Kaila is a native of Harlem, NY and is currently a 2L at Northeastern University School of Law (NUSL). Kaila identifies as part of the LGBTQIA+ community and a central part of her advocacy work is on diversity and inclusion. Prior to law school, she taught in NYC public schools for a duration of four years. Her legal interests are in the area of education law, criminal justice reform, and civil liberties. While at NUSL, Kaila has had the honor and pleasure of being on Law Review, competing on her law school’s Thurgood Marshall moot court team, being a TA for two of her first-year courses and being elected to the eBoard of three student organizations. She will also be participating in the National Black Law Students Association’s Moot Court Competition. In her free time, she enjoys watching professional basketball games, playing board/tabletop games, and watching movies.
